Gebruik betreffende dit Koerdisch voor officiële evenementen is verboden en tot 1991 was dit zelfs helemaal verboden Koerdisch te spreken. Bovenal onder druk betreffende Europese mensenrechtenorganisaties en dit Turkse verlangen om dit lidmaatschap van een Europese Unie te verwerven is een minderheden in Turkije zeker langzaam meer vrijheden toegestaan.
